Visiting a foodbank
You will be welcomed by volunteers to discuss your needs and prepare your food parcel.
“The volunteers at the foodbank were so lovely, they listened to me and made me feel human again. It was the first place I didn’t feel judged.”
What to Expect When Getting Help from Us
We understand that coming to a foodbank can be a difficult step, and we want to assure you that you will be met with a warm welcome and non-judgmental support. Our aim is to make the process of receiving your emergency food parcel as straightforward and stress-free as possible.
Getting Your Food Parcel
Once you have received your e-voucher (as outlined on our “How to Get Help” page), our team will contact you on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 10am and 12pm to arrange the next steps:
- For BD6 & BD12 Postcodes: Your food parcel will be delivered directly to your home by our volunteers. We will confirm the delivery details with you when we call.
- For Other Postcodes: We will arrange a convenient time for you to collect your food parcel from our Warehouse (our main distribution point). We will provide clear instructions on how to find us and what to do when you arrive.
What’s in Your Food Parcel?
Each food parcel is designed to provide essential, nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food items. Parcels are carefully tailored to the size of your household and, where possible, to any specific dietary needs you may have. We aim to provide enough food to support you and your family through your immediate crisis.
Beyond Food: Additional Support
We know that food crisis often stems from deeper challenges. That’s why Wyke Foodbank offers more than just food. At The Meeting Place, our community cafe on Wyke High Street, we run a vital Financial Inclusion Project. This service provides practical advice and guidance to help you address the root causes of poverty and move towards greater financial stability. Please feel welcome to ask us for more information about this support when you receive your food parcel, or contact us directly.
Our Commitment to You
Our volunteers are here to listen and offer support in a safe, confidential, and compassionate environment. You are not alone, and we are here to help.
