What’s in a food parcel?

Our foodbank provides three days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.

When you receive an emergency food parcel from Wyke Foodbank, you can expect a carefully prepared package designed to provide essential, nutritionally balanced food items for you and your household. Our aim is to support you through your immediate crisis with dignity and care. The Trussell Trust has worked with nutritionists to ensure food parcels contains sufficient nutrition for at least three days worth of healthy, balanced meals for individuals and families.

Typical Contents of a Parcel:

Our parcels are made up of non-perishable items that are easy to store and prepare. While contents can vary slightly based on donations and availability, a typical parcel includes:

  • Cereal
  • Soup
  • Pasta/Rice
  • Pasta Sauce/Curry Sauce
  • Tinned Meat/Fish:
  • Tinned Vegetables
  • Tinned Fruit
  • Custard
  • Rice Pudding
  • Milk (UHT/Long-life)
  • Biscuits/Snacks:
  • Tea/Coffee
  • Juice (Carton)

Beyond Food: Essential Toiletries

We understand that essential non-food items are just as important. Where possible, and based on stock, your parcel may also include:

  • Soap
  • Shower Gel
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste
  • Shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Toilet Roll
  • Washing Powder
  • Washing Up Liquid
  • Femine Hygine Products
  • Nappies (if size available)

Tailored to Your Needs

We strive to tailor each food parcel to your household size and, wherever possible, to any specific dietary requirements (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, halal) or allergies you may have. Please ensure you communicate any specific needs to your referral agency when you receive your e-voucher.

Our dedicated volunteers carefully pack each parcel with your needs in mind, ensuring you receive the most helpful support possible.
