Wyke Foodbank

Get to know us

Wyke Foodbank is a dedicated local foodbank based in the village of Wyke, founded by the Wyke Christian Council of Churches. We are proud to be part of the nationwide Trussell Trust network.

We serve Bradford South (including postcodes BD6, BD12, BD13 & BD19) and specific parts of Calderdale and Kirklees. Our community faces significant challenges; for example, recent figures show over 50,000 children in the Bradford district live in low-income households.

Families in our service area often face desperate situations due to benefit changes, delays, debt, homelessness, and domestic violence. When left without money for weeks or months, they turn to us as a vital lifeline to feed their families. We work through a referral system with frontline agencies in Bradford who refer families to us. This ensures every family we help is in desperate need of food, and we can provide them with a tailored emergency food parcel.

Beyond Food: The Meeting Place & Financial Inclusion

In addition to emergency food, we also run The Meeting Place, our community cafe on Wyke High Street. This is where we operate our vital financial inclusion project, offering support and guidance to help people tackle the root causes of poverty. It’s a safe space where individuals can access practical advice, helping them move towards greater financial stability.
